CEW 2019 Schedule

The theme of CEW 2019 is “Beyond Borders: Methodologies, Approaches and Expertise. At this workshop, we endeavour to go beyond current knowledge of ecotoxicology and present the latest research results, as well as new research perspectives. This integrative theme reminds us that contamination has no borders and that it affects water, soil, air and the organisms that live there. Beyond Borders also reminds us that the science that studies contaminants must be multidisciplinary and must be interested in the infinitely small, as well as the infinitely large. It uses a multitude of methodologies, approaches and expertise, which will be at the forefront of our rich 2019 program.

Several sessions have been proposed, including:

  • Aquatic and soil ecotoxicology and ecological risk assessment
  • Mining and municipal effluents
  • Biochemical, physiological, and ecological toxic responses
  • Challenging evaluation of conventional metals, mercury, oils, pesticides and legacy pollutants
  • Innovative and alternative approaches based on DNA, multi-generation, epigenetic and behavior
  • Endocrine disruption
  • Environmental Quality Guidelines, Objectives and Benchmarks
  • Traditional ecological knowledge
  • Emerging contaminants

The workshop will highlight two keynotes speakers:

Senator Rosa Galvez – The place for science in the Senate and in politics in Canada

Dr. Vince Palace – The International Institute for Sustainable Development Experimental Lakes Area, Canada’s ecosystem-laboratory
